English Version
The moon that shines tonight once lit the ancients, yet they never saw this very light. Life is fleeting, so cherish each moment. A man in a melon field may be wrongly accused of theft, and a rumor repeated often enough becomes truth. Suspicion breeds misunderstanding, and falsehoods can blur reality. In courts, officials may collude for gain, but such deceit rarely lasts. Meeting friends without a toast invites even the peach blossoms to mock your coldness. If you offer no kindness to others, chanting scriptures is in vain. Kindness flows like water, nourishing silently; indifference leaves no room for blessings. The mighty may fear the lowly, and the strong may dread the weak. If wealth is gained through deceit, the honest will starve. The broth of forgetfulness is not wine; it intoxicates the good and maddens the wicked. In the end, good and evil reveal themselves. A wise man chooses friends with care; a fool rushes into bonds. Like water flowing downstream or clouds drifting from peaks, nothing is forced. Without climbing high, who would believe the depth of the sea? Life’s path is wide only for those with an open heart.
