Throughout history, poets have praised beauty in countless ways. Li Bai compared Yang Guifei to clouds and flowers, almost flamboyantly. Du Mu, more subtly, wrote, "Among the spring breeze of ten miles along Yangzhou Road, none can compare to you."
Yet the most touching praise lies not in ornate words, but in sincerity. The ancient Book of Songs says, "A dimpling smile, and eyes so bright." True beauty is alive in a glance. Li Yannian sighed, "There is a beauty in the north, peerless and alone." Even a city could fall, but what matters most is the rarity of the person.
Life is much the same. We often chase outer brilliance, forgetting that inner grace and authenticity are the true, timeless beauty. May we learn not only to appreciate others’ beauty but also to cultivate our own quiet elegance—gentle, sincere, and everlastingly meaningful.
