The Ten-Word Wisdom of Laozi
Cultivating a meaningful life begins with simplicity. Laozi’s ten principles offer a path to inner peace and clarity.
**Virtue** means embracing both sweetness and hardship with kindness. Nurture your heart with sincerity, and you will return to innocence and see your true nature.
**Nourishment** lies in daily habits: speak less to preserve inner energy, restrain desires to guard vitality, eat simply to strengthen blood, and control anger to protect the liver. Small acts build lasting health.
**Heart** is the balance between stillness and motion. When the mind is not stirred by fame or gain, it becomes quiet and clear—close to the Way.
**Goodness** is the foundation of all action. Think kindly, act kindly, encourage kindness in others. When goodness fills the heart, darkness fades.
**Emptiness** is the highest state: seeing without attachment, moving without clinging. At its core, all wisdom returns to this one word—letting go.
**Less** is more. Spend less energy, seek less pleasure, hoard less wealth. Less worry means more vitality.
**Stillness** is strength. Quiet your body, mind, and breath. In stillness, calm arises; from calm, wisdom grows.
**Fewness** brings clarity. Fewer words, fewer desires, fewer distractions. The fewer the wants, the clearer the mind.
**Simplicity** brings peace. Let go of fame, gain, envy, and pride. When nothing stirs you, nothing disturbs you.
**Forgetting** is the art of release. Forget objects to nurture the heart, forget ego to nurture the spirit. In letting go, we find true nourishment.
Ten words. One path. A life of wisdom.
