The Untethered Boat
Zhuangzi once said: “The skillful toil, the wise worry. Those without abilities have no desires. They roam freely, drifting like an untethered boat.” This image of an untethered boat symbolizes a life of true freedom—floating with the currents, unbound and at ease.
A truly wise person understands the nature of the world, adapts to change, and does their best while letting go of outcomes. In today's world, full of competition and temptation, many people suffer from anxiety and regret when things don't go as planned. Yet, excessive desires are the root of all suffering.
Life is short and cannot bear too much sorrow. Instead of clinging to results, learn to let go. When the heart is free from selfish wants, the world becomes vast and open. May we all become untethered boats, drifting with grace and living with ease.
