The fall of Zhi Bo was not caused by flood, but by arrogance.
In ancient times, Zhang Mengtan visited Zhi Bo. Zhi Guo noticed Zhang's proud demeanor and warned Zhi Bo that the allies might betray him. But Zhi Bo trusted his pact blindly, refused advice, and grudged sharing gains. He ended up dead, his state destroyed.
Great calamities often begin with a single moment of pride and persist through stubborn refusal to listen. The wise see the signs; the foolish ignore them. Zhi Guo, after three warnings unheeded, changed his name and vanished—not from cowardice, but from knowing when to step away.
For us today: listen to counsel, or be trapped by ego; share benefits, or lose everything. He who perceives the subtle and prepares for change is truly wise. Those who wait until the flood engulfs them learn too late.
Thus: humility gains, pride loses. To see the unseen is wisdom; to heed good advice is the path to lasting peace.
