The Doctrine of the Mean teaches us to be vigilant in solitude, for true character is revealed when no one watches. Like an archer missing the target, we should look inward, not outward. Emotions unexpressed are the state of equilibrium; expressed with measure, they become harmony. This balance is the foundation of all things. Be gentle yet unwavering, standing firm without leaning. In times of peace, keep your integrity; in chaos, hold it till death. This is true strength. Treat others as you wish to be treated. Blame neither heaven nor others; rectify yourself first. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Learn widely, question thoroughly, think carefully, discern clearly, and act earnestly. Sincerity is the way of heaven; to pursue sincerity is the way of humanity. With utmost sincerity, you can fulfill your nature, the nature of others, and the nature of all things. Plan ahead to avoid failure. If others succeed with one effort, try a hundred times. Though foolish, you may become wise; though weak, you may become strong. Reflect without guilt, speak as you act, and act as you speak. This wisdom, once grasped, will serve you for a lifetime.
