# English Version
During the Southern Liang Dynasty, Emperor Wu ordered a thousand unique characters to be collected from Wang Xizhi's calligraphy for his princes to study. But isolated characters were hard to remember. He summoned scholar Zhou Xingsi, saying, "You are gifted. Set them to rhyme."
Zhou completed the task overnight, creating the famed *Thousand Character Classic*. Legend says his hair turned white from exhaustion.
The text consists of 250 four-character lines, using seven rhymes. It begins with creation and human history, then explores self-cultivation, governance, and finally, the way of a noble person—managing family and navigating life.
As China's earliest and most successful primer, it joins *Three Character Classic* and *Hundred Family Surnames* as the foundation of traditional education.
Life's wisdom is like these characters: isolated, they mean little. But when woven into rhyme, they become a lasting legacy. True learning begins with启蒙 (enlightenment), matures through self-cultivation, and finds completion in serving family and society.
